VetPartners: Summer Farm Vet Academy

Are you interested in a career in farm practice? Would you like to develop your practical skills and see what farm vetting is all about? We'd like to invite you to apply for our free summer farm vet academy.

This two and a half day residential course is aimed at students going into their final year with an interest in farm practice. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and you don’t need to be an expert already– enthusiasm is all we require! Accommodation, teaching and meals are all included as part of this VetPartners funded event.

Over the three days, we will cover a range of topics through a mixture of theory and practical sessions:

• Practical calving techniques
• Surgical anatomy covering common surgical procedures
• Fertility intervention and decision making
• Appropriate medicine selection
• Assessing common presentations
• First opinion sheep and camelid vetting
• What to expect in farm practice and how to thrive

This is a great opportunity for anyone considering farm practice.

The perfect chance to meet like-minded students and gain more experience to set yourself up for the final year. It's not all work though, we will have some fun activities planned through the stay, as well as evening dinners.
